Update on CQC's Out of Sight report

Yesterday, Debbie Ivanova and Jemima Burnage from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published a blog giving an update on the work done over the last year since the CQC's Out of Sight report was released.  Debbie is a deputy chief inspector - people with learning disabilities and autism, and Jemima is deputy chief inspector and mental health lead.

The report highlights the high levels of restrictive practice used in some mental health hospitals and the inappropriate use of long term segregation.  Some of these practices were features noted in the Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board's safeguarding review into the deaths of Joanna, Jon and Ben, at the now closed Cawston Park hospital, Norfolk.

Debbie and Jemima wanted to recognise some of the hard work that has taken place in the past year, and you can read more here

A fuller update is planned for spring 2022.
