Practice guidance

NSAB has created a range of guidance documents to support increased awareness and understanding of safeguarding issues and best practice when working with adults at risk across our multi-agency partnership in Norfolk. We have also included some guidance from other sources.

The documents are set out alphabetically in the links below.

We also have some '7 minute' briefings (transitional safeguarding, managing racist abuse to staff from those who lack mental capacity, domestic abuse, financial safeguarding and more).

7 minute briefings

On some of our other pages, there is guidance about self-neglect and hoarding in the 'Types of abuse' section, and also guidance about raising a concern, including a checklist of the information that will be helpful to know when you make contact.

We also have some more focused guidance which comes out of Safeguarding Adult Reviews or referrals to the Safeguarding Adult Review Group - for example, we published a protocol on one to one care (August 2022):

Additional Learning from SARs

Norfolk County Council shares quarterly Organisation Wide Learning (OWL) briefings to all their staff, using learning from SARs, DHRs, other reviews or internal learning.

From time to time we will adapt these for a multi-agency audience where the learning is useful across our safeguarding partnership - you can find them here.

Types of enquiry

There are various different types of enquiry or investigation that you might come across, including safeguarding adults / section 42 enquiry - here's a handy guide to our Top Twelve of them....
