Policy framework for prisons and probation service on domestic abuse

Today (March 2) Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the Ministry of Justice published a policy framework for working with domestic abuse that takes account of a range of domestic abuse contexts and the need to protect victims and children.

This policy framework sets out the arrangements for working with people whose convictions or behaviours include domestic abuse. The purpose of this policy framework is to set out HMPPS commitment and approach to reducing domestic abuse-related re-offending and the risk of serious harm associated with it.

Section 19 of the framework covers safeguarding.

Published alongside the framework is Annex A: Making a disclosure in domestic abuse cases and Annex B: Domestic abuse pathway.
