GamCare is a national provider of free information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling, and they have recently gained additional funding to deliver a two-year, nationwide women's programme.
GamCare know from the calls to their National Gambling Helpline and from their treatment services, that there are women in West Norfolk who are affected by these issues. Many people still think of gambling as a 'male issue' yet, in GamCare's experience, that's not the case, and it means that women who are struggling may be less likely to reach out for support.
Could women coming into contact with your service be affected by a family problem? Are women you see affected by debt, relationship difficulties, gender-based violence, housing issues, depression, anxiety, feelings of isolation or suicidal? If they are, there is a chance these issues could be the result of a gambling problem - whether their own or someone else's.
