BBC 1 Panorama programme Wednesday 22 May - Undercover Hospital Abuse Scandal

On Wednesday 22 May BBC Panorama will screen a programme called Undercover Hospital Abuse Scandal. It features undercover filming from inside a hospital for vulnerable adults and reveals patients being mocked, taunted and intimidated by abusive staff.

The programme will show footage of patients with autism and learning difficulties being deliberately provoked by staff who then physically restrain them at Whorlton Hall, near Barnard Castle, County Durham. Whorlton Hall is run by Cygnet Health Care. See Panorama to broadcast investigation into alleged abuse at Whorlton Hall, near Barnard Castle

This Panorama investigation comes 8 years after the programme exposed the scandal of abuse at Winterbourne View. Then, the government promised to reform care for the most vulnerable. Now they stand accused of failing to keep that promise by families, campaigners and whistleblowers.

Undercover Hospital Abuse Scandal will be broadcast on Wednesday 22 May at 21:00.
