Places of Worship Security Funding scheme

The Home Office is announcing the launch of two schemes to provide protective security at places of worship:

  • Places of Worship Security Funding Scheme
  • Protective Security for Mosques Scheme

An application can be made via the following link: Protective security schemes for places of worship (homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk). Note that the same application portal is used for both schemes.

Through the schemes, places of worship can apply for measures such as CCTV, secure fencing, and intruder alarms to be installed at their site to improve security against hate crime. All measures provided by the scheme will be supplied and installed free of charge. This year, Mosques are also able to apply for the provision of security guarding services.

The application process is now open from until 15 August 2023. We will not be able to consider applications received after this date. For more information concerning eligibility, further details on what the schemes cover, the application process and supporting guidance, please visit the link above.

The Home Office encourages you to promote the schemes to places of worship in your local area and networks who have experienced hate crime, or feel they are vulnerable to it.  Additionally, there will be upcoming events promoting the launch of these schemes, which will be communicated through the relevant channels, and you and faith-based community representatives are very much welcomed to attend.
