Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board

Safeguarding is preventing the physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and financial abuse of adults who have care and support needs, and acting quickly when abuse is suspected. It can also include neglect, domestic violence, modern slavery, organisational or discriminatory abuse.

Adult Social Services is the lead organisation in preventing and identifying possible abuse, and as part of this work it hosts Norfolk’s safeguarding adults board.

The Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board (NSAB) is a formal arrangement of statutory and non-statutory organisations that works together to encourage effective working relationships between different organisations and professional groups and promote awareness and good practice in Norfolk:

  • in safeguarding ‘adults at risk’ from abuse or neglect
  • in prevention and detection of abuse
  • in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

It has a Board that meets every three months and has an Independent Chair providing independent leadership to support the Board's strategic direction. Norfolk's Safeguarding Adult Board has an ambition to enable adults at risk of abuse and neglect, and their carers to influence safeguarding provision and policy.

Information about the Board’s structure and work is contained within this website, including our key plans, events, publicity materials, guidance for professionals, information about local training and any safeguarding adults reviews we have carried out.
