Digital switchover: scam warning
As the UK's telephone network changes from analogue landlines to upgraded versions that use digital technology, it sadly provides an opportunity for scammers to target vulnerable residents. The Local Government Association (LGA) is concerned that criminals will target vulnerable people, asking for their personal information and bank details. It warns that the scams could increase as the 2025 switchover date approaches.
The LGA advises that the digital switchover is free and that councils and home care alarm providers will never ask for personal or financial details over the phone.
