FREE suicide prevention training

As part of Norfolk’s Suicide Prevention Strategy, Norfolk Public Health have commissioned Mind to deliver suicide prevention and awareness training to individuals and organisations across the county. Those who may have direct contact with people in crisis can also access a suicide intervention skills training course. Course vary in length and are all free to access.

In the UK, suicide is the leading cause of death among young people aged 20-34 years. The rate is considerably higher in men than women, although female suicide rates are steadily rising. It is the leading cause of death for men under 50 and those at highest risk are those men aged between 40-44. In 2015 there were 89 suicides in Norfolk – Norfolk and Waveney have one of the highest suicide rates in England. Each suicide impacts between 6-60 people.
