Increase of scamming in Norfolk

Sadly, unscrupulous souls are taking advantage of the pandemic to defraud unsuspecting and vulnerable people.

Our Trading Standards colleagues have been made aware of an increase in courier frauds in Norfolk.  The attached poster is aimed at consumers.

There has also been an increase in cold calling incidents reported in the county and Trading Standards are warning residents to be on their guard.  Anyone spotting cold callers in Norfolk can contact Trading Standards through their partners, the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133 or Norfolk Constabulary, via 101.

Scam ads have shot up during the pandemic also and are still rising.  To help you filter out fraud, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has launched a new tool for consumers to report scam advertising on social media, search engines and elsewhere online
