Witness Service’s Family Courts Domestic Abuse Service pilot project - update

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has given Citizens Advice Witness Service (Norfolk Suffolk & Cambridgeshire) the green light to continue running the project in their 12 live pilot sites for another year, with a view to expanding the service into an additional 5 courts.

This is a really positive step for the Witness Service, and demonstrates the MOJ's confidence in Citizens Advice to deliver a much-needed service for victims of domestic abuse. Existing pilot sites, like the one in Norwich, will keep running the Family Court Domestic Abuse Service as they have been. They will continue to take advance referrals, which means the service can offer valuable support and reassurance to victims ahead of their hearing date. They will also continue to provide on-the-day support to those who haven’t been referred in advance.
