Why information sharing is so important

Sharing information is vitally important in safeguarding people from harm and abuse.  It enables practitioners to fully understand and assess the risk to the person and make informed decisions about what action should be taken.

Fears about sharing information cannot be allowed to stand in the way of the need to safeguard adults at risk of abuse or neglect.  No practitioner should assume that someone else will pass on information which may keep a child, young person or adult at risk safe.

We have put together some guidelines on our new Information sharing page which you may wish to consider.
