NEW page added to website for information on the Coronavirus & safeguarding

We have added a new page to NSAB website - Coronavirus UK (COVID-19)

The Coronavirus threat we all face is changing by the day. Whether you’re on the frontline, working from home or your role means you are still having to attend our offices, NSAB would like to thank everyone at all our partner agencies for the hard and dedicated work you are putting in to help protect our communities from the virus.

Coronavirus has placed many people in Norfolk in a position of real vulnerability. In response we have seen a tremendous surge of offers to help. We have also seen increased incidents of adult abuse, particularly scams targeting the most vulnerable in society. Challenging times like this show what a fantastic network of individuals and agencies we have across the public and private sectors, who have stepped up and continue to do so to protect others from harm.

The instruction is to stay at home and away from others (social distancing) and only go out for essential needs. It's really important that you stay safe and well, keep your family safe and follow the Government’s latest advice.

NSAB's main worry, which I’m sure you share, is that abuse will now be more hidden - with professionals visiting less frequently and people being isolated in their homes, potentially with perpetrators. There is the scope for abuse of all types to get much worse.

We would ask everyone to be hyper vigilant and ring in concerns if you feel an adult is at risk of abuse or harm.

At the moment there is NO CHANGE to the adult safeguarding support from the local authority. If you have an adult safeguarding concern, call 0344 800 8020.

Meanwhile, we have created a new page on the website about Coronavirus and adult safeguarding. Please share it with all your colleagues and friends and visit it regularly.

NSAB has already:

  • published 2 adult safeguarding advice posters (one for those self-isolating and one for COVID-19 mutual support groups)
  • shared easy-read information on Coronavirus on the new web page
  • shared information on scams
  • posted other useful information, for example on social distancing/isolation and older people

We are working with the Norfolk Safeguarding Children's Partnership to produce safeguarding advice for those who have volunteered to support services. This will be issued shortly.

If there are any particular safeguarding themes that develop, and / or anything that NSAB can support you with, please let us know. We are trying to keep an overview of the rapidly developing picture for the county and indeed the country.
