New multi-agency forum to tackle self-neglect and hoarding launched in Great Yarmouth and Waveney

Professionals working across the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area are being invited to attend the launch of a new multi-agency forum aimed at strengthening responses to self-neglect and hoarding.

The forum has been established to improve partnership working, information sharing and early, coordinated intervention between services.  The idea was discussed and agreed in NSAB's self-neglect and hoarding subgroup meeting, held on 13 April.  The forum aligns with the future east Norfolk council footprint and reflects a shared commitment to addressing some of the most complex safeguarding challenges facing practitioners.

The first meeting will take place online via Teams on Monday 22 June, at 2pm.  The session will focus on setting the foundations for the group, establishing a shared purpose and agreeing arrangements for future meetings.

Self-neglect and hoarding are recognised as high-risk safeguarding concerns that often require sensitive, compassionate and multi-disciplinary responses.  The new forum aims to provide a dedicated space for professionals to discuss anonymised or consent-supported cases, share learning and identify opportunities for earlier intervention.

By bringing agencies together, the group seeks to build professional confidence and consistency, increase cross-sector understanding and address barriers to effective collaboration.  Organisers emphasise that the insight and experience of local practitioners will be central to shaping the development and direction of the forum.

Professionals with an interest in safeguarding, housing, health, social care or community support are encouraged to take part.  For more information, please follow this link
