Modern day slavery arrests in the West Midlands

West Midlands police yesterday arrested 13 people on suspicion of modern day slavery, following a series of early morning raids.  Three men and two women from Poland have been safeguarded and taken to a reception centre where they will be given the opportunity to speak about what has happened to specially trained officers.

Nine men and four women aged between 18 and 60 and Polish nationals were arrested on suspicion of slavery offences.

There are indications that a legitimate employment agency may have been infiltrated by an organised criminal gang.
