Mental capacity amendment bill gives care homes too much power, critics claim
The Law Society and mental health charities have warned the Government that changes to mental health safeguards – intended to protect hundreds of vulnerable people – will hand care home managers and private hospitals too much power. They have accused government of rushing through legislation that would remove independent scrutiny of the monitoring process to ensure residents are not subjected to excessive restrictions.
