Leaders in Safeguarding Quality Mark
The Leaders in Safeguarding Quality Mark is an award given to organisations in recognition of their provision, practice and commitment to keep vulnerable people safe.
Orbit are the first registered provider of affordable housing to receive this accreditation. Orbit provide housing and support services across the east, the Midlands and south of England, covering 45,000 properties and approximately 100,000 customers.
During the audit process, Leaders in Safeguarding interviewed managers as well as operational colleagues. They did an in-depth review of their safeguarding policy, case files, recruitment and employee vetting arrangements. Among the key findings were: a detailed but concise safeguarding policy which references relevant legislation; staff have positive attitudes and show high levels of respect to tenants; managers are effective role models for staff; they work effectively with other organisations and are not trying to fix things alone; they recognise the benefit of multi-agency work and they receive high quality training.
This year, Orbit are on track to record in excess of 3,000 safeguarding concerns - a big leap from just 200 recorded in 2017.
