Help make Norwich a City of Wellbeing

People who are distressed often gravitate to the city in search of peace. It is not unusual for clergy at the Cathedral to find themselves offering a listening ear to someone feeling low. Most have mental health first aid training, so are comfortable approaching people they think might appreciate some company. It’s what clergy do well.

But not everyone who feels unwell goes to the Cathedral.

There are many places where visitors can feel safe, find a friendly face or perhaps just discover somewhere tranquil to sit and reflect on life’s challenges.

Healthwatch Norfolk have launched a Norwich wellbeing map, that lists 12 places where people who are distressed will be welcomed and, if time permits, be listed too. They range from barbers shops to cafes, the library at The Forum to the Julian Church. The cathedral of course also features. Each place also has a welcoming window sticker, and the wellbeing maps are available all-round the city.
