Adult Safeguarding & Homelessness | A seminar with Dr Adi Cooper - 8 January 2020

Are you working in adult safeguarding and/or with people who are homeless? Have you experience of barriers that obstruct best practice when safeguarding adults who are homeless?

The Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board is pleased to welcome Dr Adi Cooper to Norfolk to deliver a seminar on adult safeguarding and homelessness. The seminar will take place on:

  • Wednesday 8 January 2020, between 2.30 and 4pm
  • Elizabeth Fry Building 01.02 (Ground Floor), University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, Norwich, NR4 7TJ

There is evidence of increasing numbers of homeless people experiencing abuse, exploitation and neglect, escalating health and care needs, and reduced life expectancy for people living on the streets or in hostels. At a national level the rough sleeping strategy (2018) has raised the profile of rough sleepers and the government's commitment to end this by 2027. Whilst not everyone who is sleeping rough or living in a hostel for the homeless would have care and support needs and be eligible for adult safeguarding, there is considerable overlap.
