New referrals to Safeguarding Adult Review Group

Once a new safeguarding adult referral is received it is recorded for audit purposes.  There is a two stage decision making process.

Stage 1: based on the information provided, the Safeguarding Adult Review Group (SARG) will decide whether there are reasonable grounds to consider whether the criteria for a SAR could be met.  If they have, then the referral is moved to stage 2.  If the referral does not meet the SAR criteria at stage 1, the SARG chair will inform the referrer of the outcome.

Stage 2: each agency involved in the case will carry out a scoping exercise.  This information will then be used by SARG to make a decision on whether the criteria for a SAR have been met as set out in the Care Act 2014.  The SARG chair will inform the referrer of the outcome.
